GREAT BONES.LOCATION | Hobart
PHOTOGRAPHY | Jonathan Wherrett
Uncovering great bones of sandstone and brick, the refurbishment is designed to complement and highlight the warmth and texture of the original building elements.
“Interia …… have invigorated an important site of Hobart’s social history.
The Brunswick was established only twenty years after settlement and is one of the last remaining hotels on Liverpool Street. The work undertaken exposes much of the original building fabric and utilises salvaged materials minimising the need for new built elements and materials. The front bar is the primary focus and draws inspiration from the Victorian era where collections of curios and memorabilia will feature, allowing for an eclectic mix of objects to be amassed over time …… This project, made on a modest budget, impacts positively on the streetscape and social landscape of Hobart.”
